The Licancahur Volvano - Volcan Licancahur is one of the most beautiful moutains of South Lipez. It's located at the Occidental Mountain Chain at an elevation of 5960 meters above the sea level. It is a highly symmetrical stratovolcano on the southernmost part of the border between Chile and Bolivia.
The volcano is situated just southwest of Laguna Verde in Bolivia and dominates the landscape of the Salar de Atacama area.
The word Licancabur is the Castilianization of a Kunza name used by the Atacamenioo Likan-antay people to refer to the volcano: lican - people, cabur - mountain, thus meaning "Mountain of the People."
Hiking lovers include definitely to the Licancahur Volvano as a destination. The area surrounding the volcano is very windy during the evening; so it's hardly recommended to hike the volcano early in the morning.
